Eye care under one roof

John Singh Opticians is an independent optician offering eye examinations, contact lenses and glasses in one place.

Why an independent optician?

An independent practice can give each appointment the time it needs. The person who tests your eyes and the person who fits your glasses work from the same records, so you only tell your story once.

Appointments are long enough to explain what we see, with images on screen when they help. Every referral, result and recommendation is shared with you in writing.

Meet the team

How we work

  • 01

    Time to explain

Eye tests are booked with time to show you the images and answer your questions.

  • 02

    Fees in writing

Any fee beyond an NHS sight test is explained before a test or treatment begins.

  • 03

    No pressure to buy

Your prescription is yours. Take it wherever you like.

  • 04

    Shared records

Your optometrist and dispensing optician see the same notes, so nothing gets lost.

Inside the *practice*

Illustrative photographs. The practice’s own photographs replace these.

Bright consulting room with testing equipment, a vision chart and an eyewear display
OCT scanner beside a monitor showing a retinal scan
Optical display wall lined with prescription frames and sunglasses
Calm waiting area with armchairs, shelving and daylight
Thin gold round frames resting on beige linen
Eye pressure being measured with a tonometer

What is the technology for?

  • Optical coherence tomography (OCT)

Cross-section scans of the retina and optic nerve, used to help detect and monitor macular degeneration, diabetic eye changes and glaucoma.

  • Retinal imaging

High-resolution photographs of the back of the eye, kept on file so small changes can be compared between visits.

  • Visual field testing

Automated mapping of side vision, used to help find and monitor glaucoma and some neurological conditions.

  • Corneal topography

A detailed map of the curve of the cornea, used for contact lens fitting and keratoconus checks.
